Between October 2015 and September 2016 Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to over 1831 calls. These include responses to accidents, medical emergencies, and the provision of skilled transportation of hospitalized patients who need to be brought to another facility. PVRS also offers medical support at community events such as high school football and college hockey games. Most people are simply familiar with the sight of the ambulance driving down the road, or perhaps by having the need to ride in it as our patient or with a loved one. The members of Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad would like to invite the community to an Open House on Saturday, July 15 between 11a – 2p. This a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know the volunteer members of PVRS who respond to emergency medical calls in our community. The Squad’s ambulances, extrication truck, and “fly car” will be on display. Members will be available to offer tours of the station, including the garage bays, dispatch area, member lounge, and dorms. Please join us and see “behind the scenes” of one of Potsdam’s valuable community organizations!
The success of PVRS depends on dedicated members of the community who give their time in this service. We would like to invite individuals who are, or might be, interested in learning more about the squad to visit, possibly sign up for an observational “ride along” during a shift, or complete an application to become a member to come to the Open House. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get more information about joining.
